Feadra Ryan is a Senior Supervisor; Quality Management Systems and Compliance based out of our International HQ in Dublin, Ireland. Below she shares with us some insights into the Quality function and why she enjoys her role!
Can you tell me a little bit about the Quality function at Perrigo? I have been at Perrigo for nearly 4 years and there are 5 people on the Irish team. I took the role as I was looking for a new challenge in a different environment. I was previously working with prescription only products, and Perrigo's very broad scope of products was really appelaing!
Does Perrigo QA differ from your previous experience? If so, then how? Oh absolutely. Perrigo gives you the opportunity to try different things, explore different areas. My role is not restrictive at all!
What is a typical workday like as part of the Quality team? I work on three different teams within Perrigo: The Irish QA Affiliate, the Belgium Central QA team, and Support function for Affiliates in relation to Good Distribution Practices (GDP). It’s great having such a broad scope and the ability to work with so many people within the organisation. No day is ever the same.
How would you describe the team culture? Our Quality culture is imbedded into the Perrigo organisation. We work as a team to build on this quality culture daily!
Tell me about the teams this function works closely with on a day to day basis? Working in the Quality function means you have to work closely with a number of different functions in the organisation. Quality is ensuring you do the right thing, the right way, to ensure patient safety. Although this can slow projects down at times (regulations and requirements) other functions are aware of the necessity and are respectful of our role.
How would you describe the leadership style within the function? Very supportive and trusting, no micromanaging at all which is a major plus for me!
What is a standout moment for you within the function? I would have to say it is moving the Chefaro entity to Ireland and creating a new Quality Management System!
What can a prospective employee expect when joining the Quality function? For sure, you can expect a very supportive and fun team! You will learn a huge amount by working in a number of different areas, there is certainly no narrow work scope in Perrigo!
What does someone need, to be successful within the function? Applicants will need to have a science background of course, you will need to be able to work as part of a team and be open to trying new things!
