Joseph started at Perrigo New York in October 2020 as a Validation Engineer after nearly 3 years in a similar role within the pharmaceutical industry. As of July 2021, his role has expanded to become the Validation Group Lead. Below he shares some insights into his journey with Perrigo to-date!
What made you decide to join Perrigo? There are many appealing qualities that Perrigo has to offer, specifically with career growth and expanded responsibilities. However, the main driving factor in making my decision to join Perrigo was being given the opportunities to directly impact the company on a global scale with the qualification of new state of the art equipment and processes. Knowing that I get to contribute in the launching of new products from Perrigo’s portfolio that truly make a difference in the quality of people’s lives was something I definitely wanted to be a part of.
How has your career progressed since you joined Perrigo? Since joining Perrigo, I have taken on new projects from day one, involving new equipment as well as contributing to various equipment upgrades and maintaining the re-validation status on existing equipment at our facility. Last summer, I was promoted to Validation Group Lead, where I am currently in charge of running the Equipment Qualification group and reporting directly to the Senior Validation Manager. Over the next few months, I’ll be working on multiple cleaning and process validation studies for our new nasal product line and absorbing more responsibilities for leading cleaning/process validations along with the Equipment group.
What keeps you at Perrigo? Along with the many great perks of being a Perrigo employee, what keeps me at Perrigo is the challenging work that allows me to problem solve and the rewarding nature that comes with successfully completing projects. Additionally, the supportive leadership that motivates me to do my best and the “all in this together” mentality keeps me moving forward when a challenge arises.
What is your favourite part of your role? My favorite part of my role here at Perrigo stems from being a main contributor on new projects that are going to have a huge impact on the future of not only this site, but on the company as a whole. The culture coupled with the constant learning and development of new skills is what I like most about life at Perrigo. The culture is one that is innovative and progressive in finding ways to continuously improve, with a keen focus on teamwork and a positive work-life balance.
What is your career highlight so far? My career highlight so far would be taking on my first big project as Validation Group Lead and working with the team to successfully complete all qualifications on multiple equipment and system upgrades for one of our most important packaging lines. I look forward to continuing this caliber of upgrades on additional lines later this year and into 2022 as well.
