DUBLIN, Ireland and Allegan, Michigan – July 15, 2019 --The Perrigo Company Charitable Foundation is proud to announce a donation of $50,000 to the Saugatuck Center for the Arts (SCA) which will support an entire year of arts education programming throughout the tri-county areas of Allegan, Kent, and Ottawa Counties.
A check and community celebration took place at the SCA with children’s art hanging on the walls, a nod to Perrigo’s gift and longtime partnership with the organization. Today’s gift will support a wide range of programing including: Children’s Film Festival, Artists in Residence, Growing Young Artists, and Project Based Learning. Each program aims to make an impact in kids’ lives. Growing Young Artists, for example, exposes at-risk and migrant children to art and additional education programs.
Kristin Armstrong, Executive Director for Saugatuck Center for the Arts says, “By supporting the SCA, Perrigo is not only helping to make art accessible for all children, but our youth also learn soft skills such as collaboration, empathy, analytical thinking and teamwork -- skills necessary for a lifetime of success.”
The Perrigo Company Charitable Foundation focuses its efforts on health and education within the communities that are important to its employees, making this organization a natural fit.
Murray S. Kessler, Chief Executive Officer and President of Perrigo says, “The Perrigo Foundation’s support of health and education enables organizations to improve the well-being of our communities, which is a key component of Perrigo’s corporate vision. This was a particularly wonderful opportunity to help children continue to appreciate the arts throughout the year, while fostering our longstanding partnership with Saugatuck Center for the Arts.”
Since 2007, Perrigo has provided nearly $300,000 to the Saugatuck Center for the Arts in support of programs focused on building a vibrant arts and cultural community.
